St. Louis is home to more than one American icon

TUMS® antacid has a long history in the fight against heartburn. Created in 1928 by pharmacist James (Jim) Howe to treat his wife's indigestion, TUMS brand was introduced to the public in 1930 and quickly became an American icon.

Our main production facility for TUMS can still be found in downtown St. Louis—not far from Eero Saarinen’s Gateway Arch—where it was originally built more than 80 years ago. Today, roughly 250 GSK employees are responsible for helping treat America’s indigestion. We think Jim would be proud…his wife too.
